System requirements

LocalView 1.0 supports Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 13 or later and iPhone/iPad devices running iOS/iPadOS 18 or later.

Supported files

Markdown, JSON, property lists, TOML, YAML, NDJSON/JSONL, XML, ENV, and common developer text formats. Text must be valid UTF-8, UTF-16LE, or UTF-16BE.

Troubleshooting

• If a file cannot be decoded, convert it without lossy replacement in another trusted local tool.
• If a linked file needs access, select it in the standard macOS Open panel.
• On iPhone or iPad, select documents through Files. LocalView never uploads or syncs them; the provider you choose controls storage and transfer.
• Mobile changes use native document autosave and undo. Close and reopen a document from Files to confirm its saved state.
• On Mac after an unexpected quit, choose Restore for a separate recovered copy or Discard to remove the draft.
• Include the app version, device and OS version, file format, Files provider if applicable, and non-sensitive steps when contacting support.
